This training introduces the learner to shaping and chaining, two procedures used to teach new skills. The core features of shaping are discussed, including differential reinforcement, and general steps to implement a shaping procedure are outlined. The learner is also exposed to the core features of chaining, including task analyses, and three different chaining procedures (i.e., forward chaining, backward chaining, and total task chaining). Additionally, guidelines for creating task analyses and implementing a chaining procedure are provided.
- Understand the process of shaping
- Implement shaping procedures
- Implement task analyzed chaining procedures
